Commenter: Allyson White, parent of a public school student

Reject the amendment.

I am a parent who is concerned by the broad language of this amendment. Parents have every right to request different readings for their children. But this amendment requires teachers and schools to read parents' minds about what might be "sensitive." I don't like readings that promote consumerism--but I don't think it's the school's responsibility to preview every possible book my son might read, letting me know every brand name is mentioned, or every time a character finds happiness in material things. But for me it's a sensitive topic, and under the language of this amendment, the syllabus needs to inform me of any time consumerism might appear in any book my son might encounter.

Reject the broad language of this amendment, and the way that it continues to remove responsibiity for parenting from the parents, and impose it on the schools
