Yorktown's waterfront district is small, not overly crowded, and charming - this draws many out of state tourists as well as local tourists and residents. Bringing the traffic of floating cities in the shape of cruise ships threatens the appeal of this small tourist town, not to mention the pollution these vessels notoriously create. These vessels should not be allowed to dump waste in the open ocean, much less a vulnerable semi-closed system like Chesapeake Bay and the York River. The Bay has come such a long way over the last few decades to recover from pollution and over exploitation and it would be a shame to roll back those advances.
