As part of its duty to establish and enforce minimum health and safety standards to protect individuals receiving services, DBHDS licensing requirements refer to Virginia Department of Health (VDH) regulations in several places. The alignment accurately reflects current practice and increases clarity for providers, relieving staff at both agencies of the need to provide technical assistance because the regulations will be easier to understand.
